Starting in the United States
We're launching in the US first. That's a deliberate choice, not a technical limit. Starting in one place lets us keep the community close, give everyone real support from real people, and make sure the experience holds up before we grow.
We'd rather do that well for one country than spread ourselves thin across many. More places will come, carefully, over time.
Why not Tennessee or Mississippi?
Both states now require apps like boopr to confirm the age of every person who signs up, and not by simply asking. To satisfy the law, a platform has to check something like a government photo ID or run a face scan to estimate your age, for adults and minors alike.
boopr is built around one idea above all else: we hold as little about you as we possibly can. We don't want your ID on file, and we don't want to put your face through an age check. Collecting that kind of information would undercut the entire point of the app, so we don't operate in states that require it.
This isn't a pause, and it isn't a judgment about the people who live there; we'd genuinely like to welcome them. It's simply that boopr can't meet those requirements without becoming a more invasive app than the one we set out to build. If those rules ever change, we'd be glad to take another look.
We'd rather not be available than ask for your ID. If you're in Tennessee or Mississippi and saw a message that boopr isn't available in your state, this is why. It's about the law there, not anything to do with you or your invite.
