Mute: turn down the noise

Muting someone hides their posts from your feed while you stay friends. They're never told, and nothing else changes. It's the quiet option for a friend who posts a lot, and you can undo it any time.

Block: cut someone off

Blocking removes the friendship and stops that person from seeing your future profile updates. They'll see that you're no longer friends, but not that you blocked them. If you ever want to reconnect, you can add each other again with a new friend code.

Blocking is private to you. The list of people you've blocked lives on your phone, encrypted, and our servers don't even know who you've blocked.

Report: flag something to us

You can report a post, a boop, or someone's profile. Pick a reason, add a short description, and send it. Because we can't read your content, a report gives us the details you provide and your description, never the post itself. Reporting is separate from muting: we'll offer to mute the person afterward, but we never do it for you. A post you've reported is collapsed in your feed so you don't have to keep seeing it.

If someone might be in danger

If you report something about self-harm or a threat of violence, the app shows crisis resources right away, including the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.

Intimate images shared without consent

If someone shares a private intimate image of you, report it in the app using the "Non-consensual intimate images" reason. You can also send a takedown request through the form at boopr.com/ncii-removal. We act on these on a 48-hour clock, remove the content by revoking its keys so it can no longer be opened, and report anything involving a minor to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. See our Community Guidelines for what isn't allowed.

Quick guide. Mute to quietly hide a friend's posts. Block to cut someone off and stop them seeing your updates. Report to flag a post, boop, or profile to us. Mute and block stay private to you; reports go to our team.
